This September Gallery North features a colorful collection of paintings and jewelry by Pacific Northwest artist JR (Janet) Hawse. Her exhibit titled “A Brush With Life” includes a variety of life-like animal portraits and landscapes as well as intricate and creative pieces of hot glass (lampwork) jewelry.
Although primarily an acrylic painter, Janet has used oils, watercolor, pastels, charcoal, and mixed media during her career as an artist. Janet is a graduate of the University of Washington and is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Acrylics Art, and Seattle Co-Arts. She is also a resident artist at Gallery North. Paintings by the artist are in collections in the United States, Canada, and Japan and her jewelry is sold internationally.
The public is invited to meet the artist at her reception on Sunday, September 4th from 1:00-4:00 pm at Gallery North and at the Edmonds Art Walk on Thursday, September 15th from 5:00-8:00 pm. Janet is also part of the Edmonds Art Studio Tour on Saturday and Sunday, September 17th and 18th from 10:00am-5:00pm. at Gallery North. Refreshments will be served at all events. “A Brush With Life” opens September 1st and will continue throughout the month.
