What do twirling Snowflakes, a Nutcracker Prince, a mischievous Mouse King, and pig-tailed Bon Bons need to complete a ballet? A great storyteller!
Now in its 24th year, A Storybook Nutcracker is shorter than the original production and includes narration to bring the story to life for younger audiences. With more than 50 dancers, this production is fully staged, with falling snow, beautiful costumes, colorful scenery and all the dances you remember.
Many of the cast members have danced in the production for years and have taken on new roles as they’ve progressed and matured. This year’s production features Kristina Balayants (Brier Terrace Middle School) as Clara, Aidan Stanciu as her brother Fritz, and Alexis Ballard as the Sugar Plum Fairy. David Aldridge reprises his role as Nutcracker Prince, as does Michael Creeden as Herr Drosselmeier, and Chuck Dungan as the comical Mouse King.
Audience members are greeted as guests and invited to the Stahlbaum family Christmas party. Following the performance, guests can meet the cast, in character, for photos.
