Peter and the Wolf, by Sergei Prokovief, has introduced orchestral music to generations of children since it was written in 1936. Its endearing characters include the bird (flute), duck (oboe), Grandfather (bassoon), Peter (strings) and Wolf (French horns). Dave Dolacky will narrate.
Children will also have a chance to hear selections from the CSO Percussion Ensemble and two rising stars – Claire Kim, 12, on the piano, and Phoebe Rawn, 15, on the flute – who will perform with the orchestra.
Come early for the KING-FM Instrument Petting Zoo, beginning at 2 p.m.
