On May 4, 2019, more than 300 local Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families, friends and community partners will “make change happen” as they volunteer to help families, U.S. military service members and those experiencing homelessness as part of the 18th annual Comcast Cares Day.
For the third year in a row, Comcast volunteers from the Lynnwood office will work in partnership with Farmer Frog, a nonprofit which turns underutilized sites into environmentally sound, food-producing farms and gardens. There, Comcast volunteers will help reestablish a farm that suffered snow damage from winter storms. The volunteer effort help support the nonprofit’s work to create self-sustainable farming and help feed local communities.
Comcast volunteers from the Lynnwood area will also participate in projects in partnership with other local organizations, including The Everett Food Bank and Operation Gratitude.
With The Everett Food Bank and as part of Volunteers of America’s Hunger Prevention Services, Comcast volunteers will help sort and organize donated food, repackage bulk food and perform various cleaning activities.
At Operation Gratitude, Comcast volunteers will write letters of appreciation and create colorful drawings to include in care packages that will be sent to deployed troops, Veterans, new recruits and first responders.
Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day – it is an illustration of the spirit of volunteerism that our employees bring to life each and every day. To date, more than 1 million Comcast Cares Day volunteers have contributed over 6 million service hours to improve local communities at more than 10,000 projects. This year, the company expects more than 100,000 volunteers from Comcast, NBCUniversal, and for the first time Sky, to participate in projects across the country and around the world.
