Gallery North announces its January exhibition “In With The New” featuring two artists juried in as new members of the gallery during the past year. The show is an exhibit of paintings by award-winning Northwest artists Leah Rene Welch and Robina Lindsay.
When she is painting, Edmonds artist Leah Rene Welch prefers to use anything but a brush. “My fingers are my go-to tool when painting,” she explains. “If the effect I’m striving for can’t be achieved with my fingers, I will use kitchen utensils, carpentry tools, palette knives; whatever it takes to build the texture I want in my paintings.” Leah works in pastel and oil and while she has been a professional artist for a relatively short time, she has been drawing and painting most of her life.
Acrylic painter Robina Lindsay is an emerging artist from Stanwood. She has studied under Dianna Shyne and Angela Bandurka. Her paintings have won best in show, as well as best in both acrylic and oil categories at the annual juried art shows held at the Gilded Gallery in Stanwood. “I feel art is meant to nourish your soul and provoke thought and insight,” says Robina. “If a piece moves you, bring it home with you.”
Gallery North invites you to meet the artists at a reception for “In With the New” on Saturday, January 16, from 1 to 4 PM at Gallery North. Guests may enter to win a painting by Leah Rene Welch. The artists also will be present on Thursday, January 21, 5 to 8 PM as Gallery North continues the Third Thursday Art Walk through the winter. Champagne and appetizers will be served at both events.
This exhibit runs through January 31st. Gallery North is open 7 days a week.
