“In With the New” Paintings by Laura Ackerman and Lena Leitzke

Gallery North announces “In With the New”, an exhibit highlighting the work of artists who were juried in as new members of the gallery during 2016. The January show features painters Laura Ackerman and Lena Leitzke. Both are accomplished artists who are new to the gallery this year but are in no way new to art.

Ms. Ackerman started as a cartoonist and moved into careers in textile design, graphic and web development, illustration, and instruction in digital imaging. Her work is a unique combination of design inspired by nature with a strong emphasis on cultural patterns. Bright and colorful, her show at Gallery North features women with a sense of spirituality, as well as interpretations of nature and metamorphosis.

Ms. Leitzke works in oils, acrylics, and oil pastels, and includes everything from miniature to large-scale works. Lena Leitzke has exhibited her artwork in many juried shows receiving a number of awards including “Best of Show”. Her work is in collections in London, Paris, and throughout the United States.

Gallery North invites you to meet the artists at a reception for “In with the New” on Sunday, January 15, from 1 to 4 PM at Gallery North. The artists will also be present on Thursday, January 19, 5 to 8 PM as Gallery North continues the Third Thursday Art Walk through the winter. Refreshments will be served at both events. This exhibit runs through January 31st.
