$10 – $18Opera Workshop 2015 – Opera Americana
Enjoy an evening of American operatic masterworks presented by student singers, actors and dancers enrolled in Shoreline Community College’s award-winning theater program. The 2015 opera workshop, titled Opera Americana, will showcase excerpts from The Old Maid & The Thief, The Tender Land, Candide, and Little Women, as well as pieces by arguably America’s greatest living composer, Stephen Sondheim. Kurt Weill’s rarely performed American folk opera, Down in the Valley – performed with full orchestra, and in what will be a Seattle area premiere – crowns this program of iconic American music. With stage direction and choreography by 2014 Gregory award-winning director Teresa Thuman and Lee Ann Hittenberger, orchestra conducted by Seattle Symphony conductor Julia Tai, this year’s workshop promises to be one of the best ever. Come support our talented cast of students and professionals – you’ll be glad you did!
