Presentation: Aircraft Radio & Navigation

The first airplane pilots navigated by looking over the side of the plane at the ground below. As the radios and navigation equipment became smaller they were able to fit inside the cockpit. Then the pilots were able to look inside to navigate and communicate. Our presenter, John Somerville, will share with you the evolution of the radio and navigation equipment used to fly those early planes in the golden age of aviation from the 1920’s to the 1950’s.
