Pre-dance party teaching from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. will revolve around a mainstay of Scandinavian dancing: the schottis. Whether you are new to dancing or not, please do come! Besides the basic schottis and variations from a Swedish village or two, there should be time for a waltz mixer and perhaps a new hambo mixer. Instruction provided by Harry Khamis and Pat Pi. Following the class, the dance music is provided by the traditional All Comers Band, led by the estimable Leslie Foley. For musicians, this means that you show up and write down what tunes you want to play on the big Post-It, and if enough musicians know the tunes, they will get played! For dancers, you get to write down requests for dances that you would like to dance, and if enough musicians and other dancers like your request, you will get to dance it! Don’t miss the fun ringing in the New Year! Class, 7:30 p.m.; dance, 8:30–11 p.m. $15 (Skandia members, $10); kids, free.
