From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Larry Reinert and Elaine Mathies will teach the cheery Malungspolska, focusing on the most common variation. This is a fun and accessible western Dalarna dance with noticeable svikt. It can be danced to many different tunes from the region and beyond. When you come, ask us how svikt (the rising and falling character of Scandinavian dances) contributes to the joy of this polska! After the class, the Third Friday dance will feature Nordic Exposure playing for the entire evening. They’re bringing their Norwegian style up from Olympia to help you dance all night. Come and join in the fun! Class, 7:30 p.m.; dance, 8:30–11 p.m. $15 (Skandia members, $10); kids, free. Info: www.skandia-folkdance.org or (425) 954-5262.
