War Delays Royal Nuptials! Two noble Theban cousins, Palamon and Arcite, become prisoners of ignoble war when Athens battles Thebes. From their jail cell, the men catch sight of royal Emilia and both fall madly in love. They determine to fight for her–once each gains his freedom. Meanwhile, the Jailer’s Daughter has gone mad, too, for unrequited love of Palamon. Mortal combat, Morris dancing, and deus ex machina weave the threads of this tale to its wedded conclusion.
