Police in Lynnwood and throughout Snohomish County will be working overtime through July 5 as more drivers hit the road for the holiday.
Paid for by a state grant, officers will be working together in multi-jurisdictional and highly visible patrol areas shown to have a high collision rate.
“We have not had an alcohol or drug-related traffic death during the Fourth of July holiday period since 1997,” said Tracy McMillan, Snohomish County DUI & Target Zero Traffic Safety Task Force manager. “Let’s continue this trend by being smart before we get behind the wheel of a vehicle.”
Snohomish County officials are urging drivers to plan ahead when attending parties or other events that might include alcohol.
