Fellow softball players step up to the plate for Ashley Aven

Opponents on the field are turning into good friends off the field for Ashley Aven.

Ashley played softball for Meadowdale High School before she was diagnosed last year with leukemia. Now fellow players from around the league are stepping up to help the Aven family.

The Sammamish Review has a story about the Skyline softball team hosting a fundraising event called “Home Runs for Help” in which they raised $6,000. They’re also planning more fundraisers in the near future, as are other local teams.

“Don’t be afraid to step up and help someone out,” Skyline’s Lauren Wolfe told the Sammamish Review. “If (she) can fight like that for herself, we should fight with her.”
