The Edmonds School District has confirmed that Adam Fermstad was released from his contract as head football coach at Lynnwood High School on Sept. 18.
Fermstad was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 28. Edmonds School District community relations manager DJ Jakala declined to specify the reasons for Fermstad being placed on administrative leave.
Assistant coaches Danny Hawkins and Keauntea Bankhead were named co-interim head coaches after Fermstad was placed on leave.
Lynnwood promoted Fermstad from his assistant coaching position in 2012. The Royals went 1-9 last season under Fermstad.
