Investigators have determined a fire that caused more than $400,000 damage to a Mexican restaurant Sunday night was arson.

A passerby reported the fire about 11 p.m. at Taqueria La Mexicana Restaurant on Highway 99 and 139th Street SW just north of Lynnwood. The restaurant was closed at the time and no one was inside.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were coming from the single-story building.

Crews from Fire District 1, Lynnwood and Mukilteo had the fire under control within 20 minutes.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office is leading the investigation. Anyone with information that may help in the case is asked to contact the Fire Marshal’s office at 425-388-3557 or 1-800-55-ARSON. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the fire.
