No one was injured in a fire that caused more than $400,000 damage to a home east of Lynnwood Saturday night. .

A passerby called 911 around 7:15 p.m. to report flames coming from the back of a single-story house in the 16900 block of North Road, north of Lynnwood High School. “The house was engulfed in flames when the first engine arrived,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters from Fire District 1, Fire District 7 and Lynnwood responded and had the fire under control within about 20 minutes. The fire left the home uninhabitable.

The hot weather prompted the incident commander to call for extra fire units and crews. “This allowed crews to rotate out of the fire so they could rehydrate, rest and cool off before returning to work,” Hynes said.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal is investigating the fire. It does not appear to be suspicious.
