Fire destroys travel camper at mobile home park

A fire destroyed a travel camper at a mobile home park north of Lynnwood Saturday morning.

It was was reported at 8:30 a.m. at the Starlight Park in the 13700 block of Highway 99. “Firefighters responding from the north and south could see a large column of black smoke. The camper was engulfed in flames when they arrived,” said Leslie Hynes, spokesperson for Snohomish County Fire District 1

No one was inside the camper and there were no injuries. Highway 99 in the 13700 block was closed in both directions for about 45 minutes because crews had to run hose lines across the road.

The owners of the camper lived in a neighboring mobile home. “Firefighters were assigned to keep the flames from spreading to their mobile home as well as a neighboring travel trailer. Crews evacuated the residents and were able to keep the fire contained to the camper,” Hynes said.

The camper is a total loss. The neighboring mobile home and travel trailer sustained minor heat damage.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
