Fire District 1 calls: March 11-23

firedistrict1_logo-1Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 997 calls March 10-23:  692 emergency medical aid calls, 82 motor vehicle collisions, 87 fires, 60 service calls, nine natural gas leaks, two hazardous materials calls and 65 automatic fire alarms.

March 11

COLLISION:  At 9:48 p.m., a head-on collision was reported at Filbert Road and North Road east of Lynnwood.  Firefighters transported two patients to an area hospital.

COLLISION:  At 11:01 p.m., a two-car collision occurred at Damson Road and 196th Street Southwest east of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient to an area hospital.

ELECTRICAL FIRE:  At 11:33 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire in an electrical panel at a home in the 200 block of 154th Street Southwest north of Lynnwood.  The fire was contained to the area of the panel and no one was injured.

March 12

COLLISION:  At 10:17 p.m., firefighters responded to a one-car rollover collision at Filbert Road and West Cypress Way east of Lynnwood and transported one patient to Harborview Medical Center.

March 13

COLLISION:  At 12:31 a.m., a single car was involved in a high-speed rollover collision on the southbound I-5 off-ramp to I-405 north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient to an area hospital.

COLLISION:  At 2:13 p.m., a car went over an embankment and came to rest in a steep, wooded ravine near 4th Avenue South and Howell Way in Edmonds. It took firefighters about an hour to free the driver from the wreckage. They also set up a rope rescue system to retrieve the patient from the ravine. Firefighters transported the driver to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital. Her injuries appeared to be minor.

March 14

COLLISION:  At 4:41 p.m., a two-car collision was reported in the 7500 block of 212th Street Southwest in Edmonds.  Firefighters transported one patient to an area hospital.

March 17

COLLISION:  At 5:30 p.m., a car collided with a motorized bicycle at 44th Avenue West and 212th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace.  Firefighters transported the injured cyclist to Harborview Medical Center.

March 19

COLLISION:  At 1:59 p.m., a motorcyclist lost control and his bike went down in the 16400 block of Larch Way northeast of Lynnwood.  Firefighters transported the driver to an area hospital.

CAR FIRE:  At 6:40 p.m., firefighters extinguished a car fire on northbound I-5 south of Everett.  The driver exited the car without injury.  No one was injured.

March 21

CAR FIRE:  At 11:20 a.m., firefighters extinguished a fully involved car fire on 244th Street Southwest east of Highway 99 in Edmonds. No one was injured.

COLLISION:  A two-car collision occurred in the 22200 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds. Firefighters transported two patients to an area hospital.

March 23

HOUSE FIRE:  At 4:50 a.m., firefighters extinguished a fire at an abandoned house in the 13000 block of 3rd Avenue Southeast south of Everett. No one was injured.

Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, with full-time staffing at 12 fire stations. The department serves nearly 200,000 residents in unincorporated south Snohomish County, Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace.
