Fire District 1 to receive MedicAlert Foundation/Congressional Fire Services Institute award

firedistrict1_logo1Snohomish County Fire District 1 has been awarded the Excellence in Fire Service-Based EMS Award by the MedicAlert Foundation, the leader in emergency medical information services, and the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI).

Snohomish County Fire District 1 is being recognized for its Innovative EMS Checklist program. The EMS Checklist program ensures evidence-based critical interventions occur when clinical conditions are encountered. The EMS Checklist brings both simplicity and ease of use that isn’t found in any other fire departments in the United States, making it unique in nature. Fire District 1 has embraced the EMS Checklist program by assigning 24/7 EMS supervision in the field this year and establishing a cultural shift in practice. The overall changes have enabled Fire District 1 to provide consistent, uniform care and treatment of EMS patients.

Andrew Wigglesworth, President and Chief Executive Officer of MedicAlert Foundation, and Bill Webb, Executive Director of CFSI, will present the award to Fire District 1’s management team in a ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 1 at Martha Lake Fire Station 21 in Lynnwood.
