Five cars crashed on southbound Highway 99 at 188th Street Southwest during two incidents during the Thursday morning commute.
The first collision involved three cars. Lynnwood Deputy Police Chief Jim Nelson said one driver was cited for speeding, which likely contributed to the crash.
A second crash happened near the location of the first and at about the same time. Two cars crashed. One driver was cited for distracted driving.
One driver was transported to Swedish Edmonds with minor injuries.
Three lanes of Highway 99 were blocked for about 40 minutes after the crash.
