Former Meadowdale student passes away at WSU

Eighteen-year-old Kenneth D. Hummel, a freshman at Washington State University originally from Lynnwood, passed away after being found unconscious in a dorm room early Saturday morning.

The following details are from The Daily Evergreen:

The cause of death is still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing, said Cpl. Matt Kuhrt of the WSU Police Department. No foul play is suspected.

The police received a 911 call from the residence hall at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Those who found the student performed CPR on him until medics arrived, Kuhrt said. Hummel was then transported to Pullman Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hummel was not a resident of the dorm. Kuhrt said police have notified the student’s family.

Before attending WSU, Hummel was a student at Meadowdale High School.
