Geocachers plan to cleanup Lynndale Park

Local geocachers are looking for volunteers to help cleanup Lynndale Park.

Geocaching is a hobby in which people use GPS units to find treasures hidden in public places by fellow geocachers. As a way of giving back to the community, they participate in cleanup activities called “Cache In Trash Out.”

Organizer Tony Thompson told me he’s planning an event for Saturday, Feb. 5.

“This event should see between 30 – 50 volunteers to help clean trash and also remove some invasive plants. I have already gained permission from Lynnwood Parks & Recreation Department and they will be supplying garbage bags,” he said.

Fred Meyer, Magellan, Groundspeak and Top Foods have donated supplies, prizes, food and water. There will also be a barbecue and scavenger hunt.
