Looking for something fun to do this summer? The 8th annual Get Movin’ program will kick off Saturday, June 4, at Alderwood Mall.
Get Movin’ is an all-ages, free, summer program aimed at motivating Snohomish County families to improve their health by becoming more active.
The program has three easy steps — Get Movin’ (be physically active 30 minutes a day at least five days a week), keep track (mark your progress on the playbook calendar) and reward yourself (use a reward coupon each week you meet the goal.)
Saturday’s kickoff at Alderwood Mall is from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and includes appearances by AquaSox mascot Webbly, Cascade Elite Gymnastics’ mobile gym course, Zumba and interactive fun by Little Gym.
Swedish/Edmonds will host a jump rope challenge and health screenings for blood pressure, BMI testing and vision. They will also provide information on sports eye protection, nutrition and an “Ask the Doctor” station.
Participants will receive a Get Movin’ playbook, which will include program details, a tracking calendar, reward coupons and a t-shirt. Registration supplies are limited. Visit www.get-movin.org for more details.
Get Movin’ is supported by grants, sponsors and local businesses.
