For the first time we’re hearing from Benjamin Goodwin, the City Council candidate challenging incumbent Ed dos Remedios.
Goodwin studied at the University of Washington, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science, minoring in Law, Society and Justice. He owned a small personal fitness business in Lake Stevens before moving to Lynnwood seven years ago.
“Lynnwood needs more fiscal accountability and I intend to make that happen. In order for our citizens to be more engaged we need information readily available and accessible,” he said. “In following with our community vision and the recommendations of the Community Visioning Task Force, it is imperative that we develop and follow a citizen communication plan, better support and encourage citizen-to-citizen engagement and help the city develop a much greater trust of its citizens.
Goodwin and his wife have two small children. He works for a major nationwide retailer and wholesaler.
Because there are only two candidates for this position, dos Remedios and Goodwin will both move to November general election.
I like what I’m hearing from this guy. I also like that he’s young enough to still be a working stiff, has kids to worry about, and is in a position to have been hurt by the Council’s recent frenzied orgy of taxation.
Does he have a campaign website yet?
