Graduation rates climbing for Lynnwood students

Graduating seniors in the Edmonds School District will be receiving their diplomas this week. And as it turns out, the graduation rates are climbing.

In 2005, the combined graduation rate for the Edmonds School District was 67.4 percent. For 2008 (the most recent data available) it soared to 80.5 percent.

Here’s the breakdown by school for 2008:

  • Lynnwood High – 80.4 percent
  • Meadowdale  High – 89.9 percent
  • Edmonds Woodway High – 91.8 percent
  • Mountlake Terrace High – 88.1 percent.

“Certainly there is a long way to go,” said Assistant Superintendent Ken Limón, “but our principals, counselors, teachers and support personnel should get due thanks for the job they are doing and the role they have played in making graduation possible for so many students this month. To me it is remarkable.”
