Folks around the world are familiar with Chanel No. 5, an expensive form of water. But in the South Snohomish County area, Well No. 5 has more cache. Well No. 5, also known as the 164th St. Artesian Well in Lynnwood, taps Intercity Aquifer, a water-bearing layer of permeable rock, sand and gravel, spouting free water with a mineral taste that is believed to be life-enhancing. Alderwood Water & Wastewater District maintains the flowing artesian well as a community source of water. To grab a taste, you may have to wait in line, sometimes up to an hour, as folks with multiple vessels tap as much as they can haul away. More information can be found here.
