Help support homeless kids in the Edmonds School District

kidsWashington Kids in Transition has plans this year to help the 181 homeless students in the Edmonds School District.

The non-profit organization, which helped 125 McKinney Vento students last year, needs your help to supplement its emergency closet.

The emergency closet is up and running. Among the items distributed are:

  • Boys and girls socks
  • Boys and girls underwear and T-shirts
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Soap and deodorant
  • Hairbrushes and hair ties
  • Combs
  • Razors
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Laundry soap
  • Paper, pencils and pens
  • Top Ramen
  • Pasta bowls
  • Soup
  • Granola bars
  • Fruit snacks
  • Protein packs
  • Oatmeal
  • Juice
  • Family grab and go food bags
  • Gift cards to local grocery stores and gas stations
  • Pizza gift cards (for the emergency motel room recipients)

Washington Kids in Transition needs support in order to sustain this project. Monetary donations are accepted at www.Washingtonkidsintransition.org.

Edmonds United Methodist Church (828 Caspers St.) is providing office and packing space. Washington Kids in Transition is located on the lower level in room 121. More information on upcoming open houses will be available soon.

A recent community bag packing party resulted in more than 3000 small bags of food. The Insurance Services Group also presented Washington Kids in Transition with a check for $1,500.
