Large craft store coming to former Joe's Sporting Goods

A large new craft and home decor store is coming to the former Joe’s Sporting Goods store in James Village. The building has sat empty since 2009, when the company went bankrupt.

Hobby Lobby has received initial construction permits for a $650,000 renovation of the space. No word yet on an opening date.

Here’s a description of the store from the company’s Facebook page:

Hobby Lobby is the go-to location for families looking for everything from furniture and vases to arts and crafts supplies. Our pledge is to provide exceptional selection, value and service. Our multifaceted departments include arts, crafts, hobbies, framing, jewelry, fashion fabrics, floral, cards and party, wearables, home accents, scrapbooking, needlework and seasonal.

The company has 480 stores nationwide. The only other Washington stores are in Kennewick and Spokane Valley.
