Three people were displaced by a fire that caused $175,000 damage to a home east of Lynnwood this morning.
Neighbors called 9-1-1 about 9:30 a.m. after they spotted smoke coming from the house in the 18600 block of Larch Way. No one was home at the time.
Firefighters had a hard time getting to the house, which is located about 500 feet off the road on a very steep and narrow drive. The single-story house was filled with smoke when firefighters got there.
Crews from Fire District 1 and Lynnwood had the fire under control in about 30 minutes. The fire heavily damaged a storage room in the basement. There was smoke damage throughout the house and water damage on the main floor from a burst water pipe.
The fire appears to be accidental and the cause is being investigated.
