Northbound I-5 in Lynnwood blocked Friday afternoon

Update: 10:30 p.m.: The State Patrol has confirmed the sad news that the person who died after jumping off the overpass was a 14-year-old boy from Lynnwood.

Update: 4:58 p.m.: All lanes have reopened.

Update: 4:50 p.m.: The two right lanes remain blocked.

Update: 3:40 p.m.: Backup is now five miles to Shoreline. WSP reports this was a car/pedestrian accident. Other reports say it was someone who jumped from an overpass.

Update: 2:55 p.m.: Backup is now four miles to Shoreline. Northbound I-405 near Alderwood is also heavy.

Update: 2:45 p.m.: Another ambulance has arrived on scene. Traffic is backed up three miles to Mountlake Terrace.

Update 2:33 p.m.: Traffic is getting through in the HOV lane.

Police activity has blocked all lanes of northbound I-5 at 196th Street. Drivers should plan for long delays. Check back for updates.
