A smoother drive is coming soon a rough stretch of I-5 in Lynnwood.
Starting Monday night, crews will begin repaving southbound I-5 that was ground down as part of the state’s I-5/196th Street braided ramp project.
Drivers can expect closures of the ramps from 164th Street SW, 196th Street SW and I-405 to southbound I-5 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, July 9-12.
Then beginning the night of July 16, up to three lanes of southbound I-5 between 164th Street SW and 196th Street SW will close nightly for paving, if the weather cooperates.
Paving will take about four weeks. Final striping will be done later this summer.
In September 2011, new on- and off-ramps were opened that are designed to smooth traffic flow on southbound I-5 near 196th Street SW.
