Woman robbed at James Village shopping center

Lynnwood police are trying to track down a robber who attacked a woman at the James Village shopping center at 196th & Highway 99.

The incident happened this past Friday at 5 p.m. An 86-year-old Lynnwood woman was shopping with her friend, a 31-year-old woman, when the elderly woman was knocked down from behind. A man then forcibly grabbed and stole her purse.

The woman’s friend chased the suspect and unsuccessfully tried to stop him from getting into a gold minivan.

He’s described as a white or light-skinned man in his early 20s wearing a dark puffy coat, dark pants and a ball cap. He got away in a newer model sandstone or gold minivan and fled down 194th Street SW. Nearby surveillance cameras captured part of the robbery on tape.

Medics checked the woman. Fortunately there were no serious injuries.
