Kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year begins Feb. 11 at each Edmonds School District elementary school for all children age 5 or older by Sept. 1.
The State of Washington provides funding for a part-time kindergarten program. In the Edmonds School District, students attend five days per week in either a morning or afternoon session. There is no charge to parents for this program.
If there is enough interest and funding, the district also offers a full-time kindergarten program where students attend school for a full school day five days a week. This program is funded in part by parent-paid tuition, which will be $3,680 in 2013-2014. Limited financial aid may be available to families who qualify at the free/reduced lunch income level. Please bring a recent paystub, proof of unemployment, etc., with you if you are considering applying for financial aid.
To make the process for those interested in every-day kindergarten equitable to all, the school will conduct a lottery if there are more students interested than space available by March 11. You may enter the lottery between Feb. 11 and March 8. Parents will be notified via email and/or U.S. mail with lottery results by March 15, after the lottery is drawn on March 11.
