KING 5 took an in-depth look at red light photo enforcement cameras on its show “Up Front.” Much of the focus was on Lynnnwood”s system, and whether or not they really improve safety.
Reporter Robert Mak interviewed Lynnwood City Council President Ted Hikel, who said the primary goal of red light cameras is to make the roads safer and secondarily to produce revenue. Mak also talked to Tim Eyman, who is fighting against red light cameras in his hometown of Mukilteo.
They also interviewed someone from American Traffic Solutions, the Arizona-based company that leases the camera equipment to several cities including Lynnwood. Check out the video below.
At least the red light camera guy made some sense.
