It was a close call for an expectant mother at the peak of rush hour Friday morning.
She went into labor on southbound I-5 at 196th around 8 a.m. It’s unknown if someone else was driving, but her car was pulled onto the left shoulder.
The State Patrol and WSDOT crews were the first to respond. A Lynnwood ambulance arrived several minutes later. Fortunately, the medics got there just in time and she did not give birth on the side of the road.
“She was delivered to Swedish Edmonds in labor and doing well,” Lynnwood Fire Captain Larry Hadlund tells us.
No word yet when the baby arrived.
