As cases of whooping cough continue to increase, local Bartell Drugs are offering discount vaccines against the illness.

Nine Bartell pharmacies in Snohomish County are providing reduced fee or free whooping cough vaccines, in cooperation with the Snohomish Health District.

The stores in the Lynnwood area offering the vaccine are at 17633 Highway 99 and 3625 148th Street SW.

Vaccines are available for a fee of $15 per injection. In order to qualify for a free vaccine, patients should be uninsured and at 200% of the 2012 federal poverty limit guidelines.

An outbreak of whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is spreading throughout Washington state. In Snohomish County, 270 cases have been reported since the beginning of 2012.
