Due to reductions in the city budget, the Lynnwood Police Department front desk is no longer open 24/7. As of Jan.1 it’s open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Of course, 911 can be used anytime an officer is needed.)
As a result of this change an emergency call box has been installed adjacent to the front doors for after-hour use. If someone has business at the jail after hours, they should press the button marked “jail” and wait for a custody officer to assist. If there’s an emergency, pressing the “911” button will directly connect the caller with a police dispatcher.
Police reports can be filed online.
Like all city departments, the police department faced cuts in the 2011-12 budget. Two police clerks and a police cadet were laid off.
