The Lynndale Elementary School “Roaring Steel” steel bands will perform a their 30-minute program at the Edmonds Garden Market this Saturday, May 23rd, at 11 a.m. and again at noon.

The 5th and 6th graders are directed by Edmonds resident Gary Gibson, an internationally respected steel pan performer and clinician, and the Executive and Artistic Director of Steel Magic Northwest, a local non-profit 501(c )(3) organization with the mission of providing after school steel bands in our area.

Gibson was featured this past January in a profile here.

Steel Magic Northwest is also hosting a “Community Showcase” event in June featuring the Lynndale groups, to give the community a firsthand look at the value of these types of programs, which are quite common in other parts of the country (but as yet are rare in the Seattle area). The kids will perform their final concert, and there will be a short reception and informational presentation afterwards.

The general public is welcome at both events. For inquiries about Steel Magic Northwest, email Executive and Artistic Director Gary Gibson at
