Eight months after a massive fire destroyed the Lynnview Apartments, plans are under way to rebuild.
The fire on August 9 displaced 30 families and remains one of the largest fires in Lynnwood’s history. It caused $3 million in damage and was believed to be caused by a deep fryer.
The owner recently applied for permits to build a new 4-story with basement apartment building at 5821 200th Street SW. They are proposing to replace the 30-unit building with a 36-unit building.
They’re asking for leniency from zoning regulations for height, setbacks, recreation area, street frontage landscape width and location of landscape buffer near the north property line.
This application is just for an environmental review and variances. Other permits will be required for project design review, building, electrical and other minor permits. No construction timeline has been announced.
