Lynnwood City Council to hold Public Hearing on proposed ban on marijuana sales at Monday’s meeting

great dealThe Lynnwood City Council will hold a Public Hearing on an ordinance that would prohibit recreational and medical marijuana operations (including dispensaries) within the City during Monday’s business meeting.

The City Council has enacted a number of moratoriums and extensions while staff has reviewed the implications of recently adopted State rules, reviewed regulatory controls being implemented by other local governments and developed options and alternatives for discussion with the City Council.

The Planning Commission has  recommended that the City Council consider a course of action that would allow location of marijuana operations in select locations per the State requirements. The Council likely will take action later on the proposed ordinance in the meeting.

The Council also is scheduled to consider approval of the following:

The Citywide Safety Improvement project to install flashing yellow arrows at 32 intersections and install permanently mounted radar speed signs at three intersections

Adding the position of Strategic Planner in the Administrative Services Department. This position will design and coordinate the implementation of interdepartmental strategic budgeting processes, projects and programs; perform technical and policy analysis on a variety of complex issues; research, analyze and prepare recommendations on strategic planning projects and programs and develop long-range plans for City strategic implementation. Funding is available within the Executive/Administrative Services budget.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
