The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will be returning to the Lynnwood Convention Center on Jan. 17.

Julie Moore, the Community Outreach Specialist for the City of Lynnwood said the event’s primary goal has always been to bring the community together.

“It’s a way to celebrate what we have in common as well as our differences, but then come to a common ground together while having an uplifting event,” Moore said.

This year’s event will feature political activist, scholar and author Angela Davis, as the keynote speaker. There will also be musical performances by local students. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

In its seventh year, the event is a partnership between the City of Lynnwood, Edmonds Community College, and Edmonds School District. The event aims to focus on the life and teachings of Dr. King through music, dance and inspiration.

ASL and Spanish translation is available. For other accommodations or more information, please contact Julie Moore at (425) 670-5023 or email jmoore@ci.lynnwood.wa.us.
