Lynnwood finalizes contract for jail medical services

policeAfter two attempts, the City has found an organization to provide medical services for the Lynnwood City Jail.

The City Council approved a contract with Public Hospital District No. 1 of King County at Monday’s meeting. The District currently provides medical services to the Issaquah and Kent Jails.

The Police Department brought the need for a Jail Medical Program to the Council in 2014 and the program was approved using the existing budget. Two attempts were made to initiate the program. The first was a contract with a company that backed out of the process just before signing the contract. The second was the hiring of a contract medical director and part-time staff. The department was unable to find a suitable director.

The contract is for $15,361 per month through December 31, 2015, $188,940 for year 2016 and $193,663 for year 2017. The term of the agreement is monthly from date of agreement through 2015 and then for two years ending December 31, 2017.
