Lynnwood HS grad on Highline CC team that wins women’s soccer championship

Lynnwood High School 2018 graduate Cassidy O’Dell helped her Highline College Thunderbirds to an undefeated season and win the 2019 NWAC Women’s Soccer Championship.

O’Dell, a sophomore forward for the Thunderbirds, was a four-year varsity starter with the Lynnwood Royals before moving on to play community college soccer at Highline.

The Thunderbirds compiled a season record of 17-0-2 and captured the NWAC title with a 1-0 double overtime victory over the Peninsula Pirates on Nov. 17. Highline’s Sophia Leer scored the championship match winner in the match’s final seconds.

O’Dell started in all three of Highline’s championship tournament matches, assisting in two goals in the team’s 5-0 win over Whatcom in the quarterfinals.

For the season, O’Dell scored three goals and had five assists in 10 games for the Thunderbirds.

O’Dell had a storied high school career for the Royals, serving as team captain during her senior year and earning three All-Wesco League tabs: Honorable Mention in 2015, 2nd Team in 2016 and 1st Team in 2017.
