Lynnwood High robotics team advances to national championships

Lynnwood High Schools robotics team – Royal Robotics – is headed to the national championships. That’s if they can raise $30,000 for the trip to St. Louis on April 25-28.

The team recently placed in the top eight out of 50 teams at the regional competition, building a robot that can play basketball.

The Lynnwood students also won the Engineering Inspiration Award, which recognizes success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineers. This is one of three awards that earn a spot at the championships.

“This is great news, but a lot of money needed to make it happen,” District Spokesperson D.J. Jakala told us.

The team is holding several fundraisers to earn money for the trip, including a jazz night, dinner and a bake sale. More information is on the district’s website.
