Lynnwood is making final preparations for its 50th birthday bash.
The party will be held on Wednesday, April 21, at the Lynnwood Convention Center from 4 – 8 p.m.
The theme of the party is “Birthday Traditions from Around the World.” It will feature dance performances including Chinese lion, Native American and hula dancing.
Live music will be provided by Recess Monkey, Meadowdale High School’s Impressions Choir, the Sherwood Elementary Marimba band and children’s performer Nancy Stewart.
Kids can try their hand at traditional Filipino and Indonesian games, Chinese ribbon dancing or African drumming.
Special appearances by Seahawks mascot Blitz, AquaSox mascot Webbly and emcee former Miss Washington Tina Marie Mares.
The party is free but donations will be collected for Clothes for Kids, a Lynnwood-based non-profit.

Editor’s note: Lynnwood officially turned 50 in April 2009, but the party on April 21 will culminate the yearlong celebration.
