Lynnwood Lifestyles: Shoe shopping with Prince Charming, Turkish bakery open, Easter Bunny meet-and-greet at American Girl

Meet Prince Charming, win some free shoes
Saturday, April 6, 1 – 3 p.m.

The Great Shoe Party is coming to Macy’s in Alderwood Mall this Saturday, April 6. For two hours, participants get to try on shoes with none other than Prince Charming himself, and if the shoes fit, they’re free.

As a bonus, while waiting in line, the Great Shoe Quiz will be handed out. It will match participants with the hottest shoe trends of the season, which they can then try out with the prince.

This Macy’s event is going to be crowded, so be sure to arrive a solid half hour before scheduled time of start to ensure Prince Charming has enough time to guess your shoe size.

For any questions prior to the event, call the store at 425-712-6000.

Kismet Turkish Cafe and Bakery now open
Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Lynnwood has plenty of culinary treats for locals and visitors alike. Everything from the state’s beloved teriyaki, to traditional Chinese, American, Italian, and then some. But it’s only until recently that the area got its very own Turkish treat stand.

Turkish Cafe and Bakery has been in the works since before the holidays, but finally opened its doors this past week at Alderwood Mall. And the menu is just what Lynnwood needed.

Simit, a circular-type of bread comes in 3 different flavors, as well as a plate option with cheese, olives, cucumbers and tomatoes. Borek, a baked phyllo pastry comes in 4 options, including spinach, potato, cheese, and wet cheese. Of course, they also offer a variety of breads, including traditional Turkish cookies, and rolls known as Corek.

Everything is available for a price range of $2 – $7.75, with prices scaling according to portion size. There is also ample seating around the stand, so people can stop to enjoy a nice treat while shopping around.

Clearly, business is doing well so far, despite a wave of store closures at Alderwood Mall as of late. Currently, Kismet is looking to expand their staff, according to their Indeed listing.

If you’d like to learn more about the bakery, or the menu, please visit Kismet’s Yelp page.
