Three people are known dead, at least six homes have been destroyed and a state highway have been severed by the mudslide. At least 12 people have been injured by the mudslide that started at 11 a.m.

De Oliveira said he was behind two other vehicles when the slide hit. “I came within about 50 feet of being washed out,” he said. “Along the river, I saw one place where there were two homes and they were just gone. Nothing left but a portable toilet … destruction all around.”
