Lynnwood, Meadowdale set for girls basketball playoff openers this week

lynnwood-royals-logo1The top ranked Class 4A Lynnwood girls basketball team and Meadowdale open the postseason this week.

Lynnwood (15-0 in the league, 19-1 overall), the Wesco South champion, hosts Wesco North No. 4 seed Lake Stevens (6-8, 9-11) at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Lynnwood High School.

The Royals beat the Vikings 66-29 during the regular season. A win would send Lynnwood into the semifinals against either Monroe or Edmonds-Woodway at 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14 at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Mikayla Pivec is scoring a team-leading 14.9 points per game and teammate Jasmin Edwards is averaging 10.4 points.

Meadowdale (5-8, 7-13) , the Wesco 3A South’s No. 4 seed, faces off against Wesco North No. 1 seed Everett (8-5, 12-8) at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Everett High School. The Mavericks lost 51-48 to the Seagulls during the regular season.

Meadowdale’s Ndey Sonko averages a team-high 8.5 points per game. Teammate Mackenzie Bretz is scoring 7.9 points per game.

If the Mavericks win, they would face either Mountlake Terrace or Stanwood at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15 at Lynnwood High School. A loss sends Meadowdale into the loser’s bracket against the loser of Mountlake Terrace/Stanwood at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15 at either Mountlake Terrace or Stanwood,.
