Lynnwood police seeking suspect in Edmonds CC campus assault

The Lynnwood Police Department is investigating an alleged assault that occurred early Wednesday morning at Edmonds Community College, leaving one man with minor injuries.

At 6:45 a.m., a 50-year-old man reported he was assaulted on the Edmonds CC campus near the bus terminal after getting off of a Community Transit bus. According to the victim, the suspect got on the bus sometime before the Edmonds CC stop and was reported to have argued with the driver.

At some point during the ride, the victim said the suspect noticed him and followed him off the bus when they reached the campus. The victim said he was walking west from the bus terminal toward the campus buildings when the suspect punched him multiple times before leaving on foot. The victim was treated for minor injuries at Swedish Edmonds.

According to Commander Sean Doty, the suspect is a thin, black man in his 30s or 40s, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall. The suspect was reported to have been wearing an orange construction vest and a hard hat. Police had probable cause for charging the suspect with fourth-degree assault, Doty said.
