Lynnwood teacher to be honored at the White House

Scott Boyce, a physical education teacher at Hazelwood Elementary, is one of 100 teachers from around the country who will be honored at the White House this week.

Boyce recently received National Board Certification and was randomly selected to attend the ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. He will also attend a forum on effective teaching.

“This marks the first time since the Clinton Administration that the National Board has been at the White House,” said DJ Jakala, Edmonds School District spokesperson.

According to the National Board Certification website, the advanced teaching credential is achieved upon successful completion of a voluntary assessment program designed to recognize effective and accomplished teachers who meet high standards.
